Remember the first time when you were asked to sit in one place and focus on your breathing? When you were suggested to start meditation? 
For most of you it must have been intimidating or even boring! Right ?!

There is no denying that meditation has so many benefits, but it is rather very difficult to inculcate a regular practice. 

What if I told you, there was a way to achieve similar benefits of meditation, while you sip your favorite beverage. Maybe a hot Americano or a cold bubble tea.

How do we do that? Through Mindfulness.

The first step towards practicing mindfulness is to integrate in into your daily life, in the everyday things that you do. For most of us drinking our morning beverage is a daily ritual and if we can make this ritual a cue to practice Mindfulness, we will be able to not only gain the benefits of it but also experience the joy of drinking our favorite beverage.

HOW TO ENJOY YOUR MORNING DRNINK MINDFULLY?

Whenever you try to focus in the present moment i.e. practice Mindfulness, it becomes very challenging because our brain wanders to different places and thoughts; It wanders either in the past or in the future.

 

The trick is to engage all the 5 senses together in the present such that the brain will be too occupied to wander away.

 

Why don't you follow the below steps and experience it yourself?

STEP 1

Get Ready

Settle down in a quiet place and relax yourself. Hold the coffee/tea mug in your hands and get ready.

Touch

STEP 2

Hold the mug in your hands and feel the sensations. Experience the warmth or the cold. Hold the mug tighter and be aware of the the touch.

STEP 3

Sight

Observe the things around you. Take a deep inhale and gaze at the colour of the beverage, observe the ripples in your drink as you move the mug.

Observe the things around you. Take a deep inhale and gaze at the colour of the beverage, observe the ripples in your drink as you move the mug.

Observe the sounds around you, it could be the birds chirping in the morning, the fan in your room, or maybe your own breath. immerse yourself in the experience. 

STEP 6

Taste

Take a sip and enjoy the taste of the beverage. Play with it in the mouth, let the taste linger in the tongue and continue drinking until you finish.

Be Mindful

While you are in the moment just enjoying the beverage, remember whenever your mind wanders gently bring it back and start from step 1 again!
